Donald Trump has secured the necessary number of delegates to clinch the GOP nomination, according to The Associated Press.

The AP reported Thursday that it had found Trump had reached the required number of delegates, after a small number of unbound party delegates told the AP they would support him. Trump has been the only GOP candidate in the race since Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich dropped out earlier this month.

Trump was very close to the required number of delegates prior to the AP’s announcement on Thursday. The new outlet’s delegate tracker finds Trump with 1,238 delegates.

With 303 delegates at stake in the final five primaries Trump will be able to pad his total before the convention in Cleveland.
