Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday said Republican nominee Donald Trump knows “nothing” about foreign policy.
“The truth is, Donald Trump knows nothing about foreign policy,” Biden said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe. “Nor should he, based on his background.”
“But the thing that bothers me, is I don’t see any attempt for him to go out and get people who really know on the Republican side,” about foreign policy.
Vice President Biden and President Barack Obama are scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary Clinton on Wednesday.
After the damaging leak of hacked Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails, the Clinton campaign suggested that Russian hackers stole the emails to help Trump’s campaign. Both DNC and U.S. officials have said this some evidence that Russia was behind the hack.
Biden pushed back against allegations that Trump is a “friend of Putin,” but said that Trump’s proposals are “playing directly” into the Russian president’s hand.
“I don’t but that, but here’s what he’s doing: he’s playing directly into the hands of a guy who says his overarching goal is to break up NATO and fracture Europe,” Biden said.
