Hillary Clinton now holds a double-digit lead over Donald Trump nationally, according to a new poll.
Clinton leads Trump by 10 points, 51 to 41 percent, in the new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll released Tuesday. Tuesday’s poll gives Clinton her biggest lead yet since the tracking poll started asking respondents about the general election matchup in May.
However, when third-party candidates are factored in Clinton’s lead shrinks to 6 points. Clinton leads Trump 44 to 38 percent, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson receives 10 percent, and Green Party nominee Jill Stein takes 4 percent support.
Clinton’s lead over Trump jumped from 1 point to 8 points after becoming her party’s presidential nominee at the Democratic National Convention.
The NBC News/Survey Monkey poll was conducted August 1-7 among 11,480 registered voters and has a 1.2 percentage point margin of error.
