President Trump continued to ramp up his rhetoric on North Korea just days after issuing a stern warning about the threats the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
In an early morning tweet Friday, Mr. Trump said “Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!”
On Tuesday, Mr. Trump warned that North Korea would be met with “fire, fury, and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”
Defense Secretary James Mattis issued a statement on Wednesday urging Pyongyang to avoid taking actions that would “lead to the end of its regime”:
“The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.”
After Trump’s warning, North Korea responded by saying it would launch a missile strike on the U.S. territory of Guam, sometime by mid-August.
