President Trump took to Twitter early Thursday to ask why the Senate Intelligence Committee is not investigating the news media to “see why so much of our news is just made up.”

“Why isn’t the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up- FAKE!” the president tweeted early Thursday. Notably he did not single out a specific media outlet or news story.

Trump has frequently labeled negatives news stories about him or his administration as “fake news.” Several stories the president called “fake news” turned out to be entirely or at least some what inaccurate. Other times, the story was not flattering and labeled fake news.

Recently, Mr. Trump blasted NBC News for a report that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called the president a “moron” over the summer and threatened to resign. Mr. Trump has also blasted the on going investigations into Russian intervention in last year’s presidential election, often referring to them as a “hoax” or a “witch hunt.”

Mr. Trump also denied the NBC News story that claimed Tillerson threatened to resign, and blasted the news outlet’s ratings and editorial standards.
