Federal prosecutors in New York have subpoenaed Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, the Associated Press reported Monday night.
A spokesperson for the committee told the AP it intends to cooperate with prosecutors and that it received the subpoena on Monday night and was reviewing it. It was not immediately clear what documents were requested.
Several media outlets have reported that investigators have been interested in donations made to the inaugural committee in the lead up to the inauguration. Investigators are also want to know if any of the millions of dollars raised by the committee were misspent.
The New York Times has reported extensively on ties between Trump campaign officials and foreign donors. Federal prosecutors are reportedly investigating whether there were any donations made illegally by foreigners to the inaugural committee.
